Data governance isn't always the sexiest topic in tech, but it's one of the most important. So Lauren and I are really pleased to share that Friday Initiatives has been featured by Entrepreneur UK in its 100 UK Startups to Watch.

It's a milestone that means a lot to us. Not because we set out to win awards, but because it validates something we've believed since day one: that data governance, done properly, is one of the most commercially valuable things a business can invest in. Not the checkbox kind. The kind that actually changes how organisations understand, protect, and use their data.

We started Friday two years ago with a simple thesis: most businesses are sitting on data they don't fully understand, can't easily protect, and aren't using to its full potential. The industry was full of expensive consultancies offering 90-slide decks and generic compliance frameworks. We wanted to help organisations move beyond treating data as a compliance burden and instead use it as a source of clarity, trust and growth.

Two years later, we're working with businesses across financial services, technology, publishing, government and social impact sectors in the UK, Australia, Singapore, and the EU. We've contributed to the UK's Data Standards for Smart Data Report, built proprietary data governance models, and quietly started developing solutions that are changing how organisations make decisions about their data.

Being recognised by Entrepreneur UK is a reminder that what we're building resonates beyond our client base. But if we're being honest, the recognition we value most is the repeat business, the referrals, and the moments when a client tells us we've genuinely changed how they think about their data.

Thanks to every client, partner, and collaborator who has been part of the Friday journey so far. And of course, none of this would be possible without the team behind it. We're only getting started.

And if you have a data problem that needs solving, or you just want a DPO who actually understands your business, get in touch!
